Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is a condition that affects 220 million people worldwide. It’s embarrassing as it causes unwanted wetness and unpleasant odours, but it is also very easily treated. Small doses of Botox will be injected under the skin in areas that produce the most sweat, such as in the armpits and palms of the hands, will prevent the sweat glands from producing excessive amounts of sweat.

Does it hurt?

You may feel the pinch of the injection, but as Dr Ahmed uses ultra fine needles, the discomfort will be minimal. If you’d prefer to have a local anaesthetic applied prior to treatment, Dr Ahmed can use numbing cream.

How long will the effects of the treatment last?

You will notice a huge reduction in your sweat production for 4-6 months. When the effects begin to wear off, you can have a top up treatment.

How soon after treatment will I notice a difference?

The treatment will begin working 2-3 days after receiving your Botox injections. Full effects will be felt after 10-12 days

Is the treatment safe?

Botox has been used medically for over 50 years. It is FDA approved and the risks are minimal.

Can anybody have Botox treatment for Hyperhidrosis?

The usual restrictions for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding apply, and in addition, if Dr Ahmed suspects that there may be an underlying health problem causing your excessive sweating, you will be referred to another doctor before any treatment can begin.

“I have had several fractional laser sessions at Lynton Lasers on what was very severe post acne scarring to the whole of my back. The scarring varied in severity from slight pitting to large patches (2cm squares) of hypertrophic scars. These scars were approximately 18 years old and something I had just learnt to live with. I never really believed anything could be done about them. We started the course of laser with a curious mind to see what results could be achieved but with very little expectation.
