We recommend Onda^® treatments spaced at 4 weeks apart for fat reduction, and 3-4 weeks apart for cellulite treatment.

Skin tightening treatments increase the growth of new collagen and strengthen the skin’s elastin fibres in the treated area. After the treatment natural collagen regeneration makes the skin soft, tighter, smoother. 

For skin tightening Onda^® performs by:

Generating heat- the heat caused by Coolwaves^™ causes the immediate shrinkage of collagen fibres in the dermis, the consequence of this is the tightening of flabby skin. The final effect is an improvement of skin laxity. 

The Coolwaves^™ have a deep and targeted action on the fat cells which produces the following effects:

1. By targeting the fat cells it causes them to oscillate and heat up affecting the integrity of their outer membranes.

2. This causes a mechanism called “blebbing” which releases the contained quantity of fat.

3. As the membrane loses structural integrity. The cell membrane ruptures, and the fat cell is destroyed (lipolysis).

4. The integrated cooling system integrated into the smart handpieces ensures that lipocytes are broken down, while the skin stays cool for maximum comfort.

5. The release of fat stimulates an influx of macrophages from the blood, to collect the fat.

6. Once the macrophages have cleared the excess fat, they migrate to the lymphatic system to be drained away. In this way the fat is eliminated from the body.

Extensive scientific evidence concludes that up to 98% of women and 10% of men suffer from cellulite. For Cellulite, Onda® Performs in Two Ways:

1.The septa becomes fibrotic and less elastic due to cellulite.Coolwaves™ regenerates the elastin fibres of collagen. The final result is a visible improvement of the orange peel appearance through the release of constricted fat lobules.

2. By reducing the volume of adipocytes (fat cells), with the targeted action of the smart handpieces. There is less outward pressure on the skin, leading to an improved circulation, lymphatic drainage and therefore less water retention.

Treatment is virtually painless. Due to the skin presenting less resistance to high microwave frequencies, Coolwaves^™ are able to pass through the skin more readily than other technologies, focusing energy only where it is needed (for example in the subcutaneous adipose tissue in the event of localised fat deposits). This then results in less heating and discomfort on the skin.  

Prior to treatment you must first undergo a consultation during which details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm your suitability. Before proceeding with treatment you will also be asked to complete a consent form.

The treated area may be pink for a short time after treatment, but this will subside quickly. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. For Body treatments, as a result of some of the triglycerides being metabolised by passing into the urinary system it is also quite normal to experience an increased need to go to the toilet.

In fact, it is recommended for both face and body treatments that patients drink increased quantities of water for a short period of time after the treatments to encourage and enhance this particular removal process for the fat cells. Immediately after treatment, contraction of collagen fibres improves skin elasticity and the skin should appear firmer.

Treatment with Onda Coolwaves^™ is particularly effective on stubborn areas of fat on the stomach, underarms, love handles, thighs, saddlebags, back and upper arms. We can also target cellulite on the thighs, buttocks, stomach and arms alongside skin laxity on the knees, stomach and more.

With Onda Coolwaves^™ we can now also treat stubborn areas of fat and skin laxity in the submental area (under the chin).

When the Coolwaves^™ penetrate the skin, they pass straight through the top layers without overheating them (using about 20% of the energy from the microwaves), while they concentrate their effective action on the subcutaneous fat that highly absorbs them (about 80% of the energy).

Unfortunately, people with the following conditions are unlikely to be suitable for treatment:

• Pregnancy
• Heart problems
• Metal implants or pacemakers
• Severe clotting disorders
• Current or recent cancer
• Severe vascular disease
• Skin disease in the treatment area
• Uncontrolled diabetes
• Under the age of 16

Generally side effects are very mild and can include itching, numbness, a little heat, tenderness, redness and swelling. Less common side effects can include mild bruising, or blisters at the treatment area site, which resolve fairly quickly. However these are not common.

Each treatment covers an area of 15x15cm and takes approximately 15 minutes. It is possible to have multiple areas done in each session.

No. Unlike fat freezing which is extremely uncomfortable and Radio Frequency which is also uncomfortable, the ONDA^® provides a gentle warmth under the skin. The treated area remains warm for a few hours afterwards.

Radio frequency can be more unreliable in terms of results due to the ‘resistance’ of the skin to RF. Whilst RF energy can get stuck in the epidermis and the dermis, the majority of all the ONDA^® Coolwaves™ actually reach the fat layers providing more effective and long lasting results.
In RF excessive heat build up in the skin risks tissue damage, and causes a lot of discomfort. The ONDA^® Coolwaves^™ on the other hand remains comfortable and cool as the name suggests.

The results seen with radio frequency devices generally do not last long and more treatments are needed to see a noticeable difference. With Onda^®, as we are specifically destroying a percentage of the fat cells, results tend to be much longer lasting and in some cases can be permanent.
