How is the treatment carried out?

The applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated.

What will I see after the treatment?

The hair follicles are damaged by heat but the hairs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs shed after 1 – 3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis.

How long does each treatment take?

Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Are there any side effects with IPL or laser hair removal?

The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and bumpy but this usually subsides within a few hours. Unwanted reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How many treatments are necessary?

Only hair that is actively growing is a ected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is conducted every 4 – 8 weeks, depending on the area treated, until a satisfactory result is seen. The required number of treatments varies, but typically 6 or more treatments are needed for optimum results.

What is the consultation procedure?

Prior to treatment, a consultation is conducted in which a medical history is taken to con rm suitability for treatment. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Before treatment commences you must provide written consent and a small test patch will be carried out.

How does laser hair removal work?

Light is emitted and absorbed by melanin within the hair, which is then converted to heat energy damaging the hair follicle.

What does a laser treatment feel like?

With standard laser hair removal treatments, you can feel what is described as a ‘hot flick’ of an elastic band during treatment. However, with the brand-new pain free Motus MOVEO treatment you will feel little to no sensation at all. The built-in chill tip allows even more comfort for clients especially when treating an area with lots of dense and dark hair.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required varies from client to client dependant on many factors however, as a guideline it is always recommended to complete a course of at least six sessions per area treated.

Who is suitable for treatments?

Most people are suitable for treatment. We recommend a consultation with your clinician to ascertain if the treatment will be successful for you. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is not suitable for treatment.

“I have had several fractional laser sessions at Lynton Lasers on what was very severe post acne scarring to the whole of my back. The scarring varied in severity from slight pitting to large patches (2cm squares) of hypertrophic scars. These scars were approximately 18 years old and something I had just learnt to live with. I never really believed anything could be done about them. We started the course of laser with a curious mind to see what results could be achieved but with very little expectation. The treatments were quick and it is absolutely tolerable. There was some sunburn type of heat to the area afterwards but pretty much completely gone after an hour or so. The area then scabbed and I kept it heavily moisturised with a petroleum for about a week. The results have gradually been improving over a 6 month period with in this time I probably had about 3 treatments. The results have been outstanding, the scarring is still visible and will never disappear completely but the difference has been life changing.
