Why Lynton’s LIGHT PROTECT 5* Boots accredited SPF 50 is the first of its Kind
As we are in the midst of summer, what better topic to discuss than skincare and the importance of using a daily SPF in your skincare regime. Although you may not think you can damage your skin unless it’s a particularly sunny day you’re mistaken. UVA and UVB rays are just as powerful even in the winter months and this is why you should be using a protectant to help look after your skin every day.
UVA and UVB
UVA rays cause the skin to age prematurely and encourage the promotion of photoaging and wrinkles whereas UVB rays damage cells which can lead to several forms of skin cancer. When looking for an effective SPF you need to make sure that the product defends against both UVA and UVB to ensure you are getting maximum protection and therefore keep your skin fresh, flawless and healthy.
Skincare products with high SPF have been proven to decrease the development of skin cancer and reduce general skin damage and photoaging. Although the sun is needed for Vitamin D for skin cell growth, repair and metabolism we can still absorb enough of this by spending as little as one hour per week doing outdoor activities, we do not need to be spending long hours out in direct sunlight as this will just do damage to our skin if we are not protected.
We are regularly asked by our customers for recommendations of SPF skincare products especially ones which can be used on sensitive skins and be used post laser/IPL treatment. People with fair, sensitive skin are more likely to experience harmful side effects caused by the sun and require a hydrating daily SPF moisturiser. Those with darker skins are not immune to the harmful effects of either. They are much more likely to develop pigment irregularities such as melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Daily use of sunscreen post laser/IPL treatment will drastically reduce the incidence of PIH and enable subsequent treatments to be carried out safely, without the risks associated with treating tanned skins.
We also found that clinicians were struggling to find a reasonably priced daily protectant that combines optimum UVA and UVB protection, and yet still has an ultra-light formulation so that it doesn’t feel sticky, goes on easily under make-up and doesn’t leave a white chalky appearance on the skin.
Special Formula
At Lynton, we have been working closely with renowned cosmeceutical chemist, Bruce Green to develop our own range of skincare. Within this skincare range, we have a UVA 5 STAR Boots accredited & UVB protectant; LIGHT PROTECT SPF 50. This specially formulated product contains ingredients such as hyaluronic acid to intensely hydrate the skin and lock in moisture. It is the first of its kind as it is specifically developed for use immediately after laser/IPL treatment and is already being used by numerous NHS dermatologists as their preferred high-factor SPF.
It is suitable for daily use and acts as a perfect primer under make-up. The product leaves no chalky residue on the skin and is packed full of antioxidants to prevent free radical damage that leads to premature skin ageing. It is also available in a tinted version, for people who prefer some light coverage with their SPF.
